Anchorage to host annual running event

Runners of all skill levels can attend the Anchorage RunFest in August to have fun while getting active.

The Anchorage RunFest is a collection of running activities and community events that promote staying healthy. The festival was originally called Humpy’s Marathon back in the 1990s before switching to its current name in 2015. Races held during the event include a full marathon, 5K, kids’ race, and the Anchorage Mile Run. Routes for the festival go through locations like Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and Chester Creek Trail.

There are multiple activities for participants to enjoy during the Anchorage RunFest. A pasta feed will be held on August 21 featuring Bart Yasso as a guest speaker. Children can be brought to the Family Health and Safety Day event to learn about important medical practices and the facets of healthy living. There will also be a virtual expo attended by businesses such as HomeLight and the Children’s Hospital at Providence.

The festival will be held on August 21 and 22 in the heart of Downtown Anchorage. Registration for the marathon will cost runners $85, and joining The Anchorage Mile is $20 per person. The fee for the 5K is $40, and Kids’ 2K will be free to enter with an optional donation. Prices for the events will increase over time. Organizers for activities similar to this can promote their athletic festivals with banner printing services.
