Anchorage Lego fans, as well as art enthusiasts from the city and across the state, may find the latest exhibits at the Anchorage Museum to be of particular interest.
The museum has just started hosting a three-month show entitled ‘Brick by Brick’ centered around the little plastic building bricks that have become a part of popular culture. The displays are not part of a traveling show, but have been organized by the museum itself. They will show how Lego blocks have been used in science, architecture, and even to create works of art.
They show will include several pieces that have been created by official Lego Artist Nathan Sawaya, who has been specially licensed by the company. There will also be contributions by Mike Stimpson, who is similarly known for his creations. Local artists, who were chosen by a juried panel, will also have their pieces included on a rotating basis.
The major corporate sponsor for the event is Concoro Phillips. It is estimated that over 100,000 Lego pieces will be used to create the displays. There will also be a ‘free play’ area, in which members of the public can create their very own works of Lego art.
An event like this can appeal to a wide variety of visitors, all the way from art enthusiasts to kids who just like to play. A poster printing company can create materials to help promote the exhibit to the public.
