A bike ride took place recently to raise money for a charity close to the heart of a local man.
Sandy Miller is a local West-Lothian man working to boost funds for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association with his annual fundraising bike ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Sandy contracted a virus which caused him to lose his sight nine years ago and he has been fundraising for Guide Dogs for the Blind ever since.
The bike ride took place on Saturday 12th May and saw people from across the region joining Sandy to help raise money for the charity. Sandy had been featured in the West Lothian Courier in the run-up to the event, encouraging people to take part. He asked them to Print off a sponsorship form and other promotional materials from the Guide Dogs website and get involved by raising at least £50 each. Local Print companies in Falkirk have got involved with fundraising events in the past by producing Print collateral for other fundraising events, such as producing marketing material to raise awareness through services like flyer printing.
The Falkirk Wheel is one of the features of the route that Sandy cycled by as part of the charity bike ride. The route ran along canals and waterways between Glasgow and Edinburgh and lasted for approximately 50 miles.
The total amount raised by the bike ride is yet to be announced but if Sandy’s past efforts are anything to go by, this could see the charity being awarded with thousands of pounds.
