What's Happening in Falkirk, Scotland…

New modular community centre to be built in Falkirk

Falkirk is set to get a brand new modular community centre, with the confirmation that the local council has approved the plans for its construction.

This building is intended to serve as a replacement for Camelon Education Centre, which has been deemed to be no longer fit for purpose. That centre is run by Camelon Management Committee, and it had originally hoped to buy it from Falkirk Council using a Community Asset Transfer (CAT). Those plans had to be abandoned after surveys of its condition found that bringing it up to date would not be viable financially.

Now, the council has given the green light for it to be replaced by a more modern and sustainable centre. The modular building will occupy the same site as the current centre and will provide many of the same services to the local community.

When new facilities like this first open in the town, it is important to advertise them. Flyer printing by Falkirk services can be a good way to do so.

Closing down the old centre will save the council a considerable sum, believed to be more than £278,000 per year. Its leader Cecil Meiklejohn told Scottish Construction Now:
“The new facility will give the community a modern, manageable space that can be shaped around their needs for the future.”

No start date for the work has been announced.
