European trip opportunity for scouts in Falkirk

A group of young scouts from Falkirk have a chance to make the journey to Eastern Europe next year, so that they can participate in a global event.

The group of five have been selected for the World Scout Jamboree, which takes place every four years. It gathers members of the scouts from every part of the globe, with around 43,000 being invited each time. The country that has been chosen to host it in 2027 is Poland, which means the five will need to raise enough money to pay for their travel and accommodation costs.

Their names are Charlotte Rankine, Murray Herriot, Blair Hamilton, Alexander Marjoribanks and Finlay Hunter. The first four are pupils at Falkirk High School, but Hunter goes to Dollar Academy.

When youngsters take part in prestigious events like this, their friends and families sometimes like to show support using Banners. Falkirk has banner printing outlets that can help.

Speaking to the Falkirk Herald, Marjoribanks said:
“We can’t wait to get there, but in the meantime, we have a lot of fundraising to do. If any business or companies want to get involved and sponsor us for the trip, we would really appreciate their support.”

The Jamboree involves community projects, leadership tasks and cultural experiences. Each of the five has to secure £3,750.

They are starting with a sponsored relay hike in April.
