Plans for the construction of a brand-new town hall in Falkirk have taken a big step forward, with the appointment of architects to design it.
Falkirk Council put this process out to tender, and many top Scottish companies applied for the job. The one that the local authority has opted for is Stallan Brand, which is a firm based in Glasgow. This company has an impressive track record and counts Falkirk Wheel among its portfolio. Other projects that it has designed include Aberdeen’s Union Terrace Gardens and the 2014 Commonwealth Games Village.
Now that Stallan Brand has been handed the job, its first task is to produce a final layout and design. Falkirk Council carried out a consultation with local people to find out what they want from their new town hall and that feedback will be used in creating the designs.

Among the facilities that the finished town hall will have are an auditorium with around 600 seats, a theatre, a bar, a cafe, and a centre offering support and advice. Falkirk Central Library will also be housed within the building.
