Student from Falkirk lands pantomime role

A student who lives in Falkirk has landed a key role in a Christmas pantomime, but this role will not see him make an appearance on stage.

Tyler Connor is 21 years of age and is studying for a BA in Theatre Industry and Practice. Now, the ambitious student has landed a production role for a festive pantomime in Glasgow. He will be shadowing the director of A Christmas Carol, which is set to be put on at the Platform Theatre in the city’s east end. It represents a major career break for him.

In an interview with the Falkirk Herald, Connor stated that he was thrilled to have been given such an opportunity. The director of the pantomime is Rosalind Sydney and his job will be to support and learn from her.

He then went on to add that:
“By shadowing the director I’ll be gaining real industry experience, seeing how the show develops from rehearsals into a fully staged show to live audiences.”

Most towns and cities have a pantomime each Christmas, including Falkirk. Graphic design outlets in the town can be helpful when it comes to promoting the show by creating advertising Posters.

Connor is now in year three of his chosen course, so getting real world experience is even more important to him.

A Christmas Carol is scheduled to run from the 2 to 24 December.
