Plans for new council base move forward
Plans for Falkirk Council to make the move to a brand-new base later in the year have taken a step forward, after the council appointed three companies to help make it happen.
The local authority is planning to move into a building that used to house a branch of travel agents Thomas Cook, with the project set to cost £1 million to complete. Now, it has brought in Michael Laird Architects to oversee the redesign of this building, alongside the local engineering firm DSSR and design and engineering consultancy firm BakerHicks.
High-profile projects in the area that have been carried out by Michael Laird Architects include the Rosebank Distillery and the headquarters of Ineos. Now, it will have the responsibility of turning the ex-Thomas Cook call centre into a state-of-the-art office building, with the help of DSSR, whose previous work has won it awards.
Companies like these sometimes look to places that offer corporate gifts to help attract clients.
Speaking to the Falkirk Herald about the hiring of the three companies, the project manager, Lesley Malkin, said:
It is hoped that the new base can be ready by the middle of the year.
