More than a hundred brand new homes could be constructed on a stretch of land just outside Falkirk, if the local council decides to come down in favour of the Plans.
MacTaggart and Mickel Homes Ltd has submitted Plans for a development that would consist of 132 homes to Falkirk Council. The site that the company wishes to build on is very near Falkirk, as well as Strathcarron Hospice. It used to be occupied by the Carrongrove Paper Mill, but the firm closed its doors for good almost 20 years ago.
Since then, the piece of land has remained disused. Now it could be brought back into use though, as this is a major development. It would consist of a total of 123 homes, of which 120 would be private residential dwellings. They would be a mix of terrace houses with two bedrooms, semi-detached homes with three and detached ones with four bedrooms.
According to the Plans the company has sent to the council, recreational, cycling and walking amenities would be created too. Property developers sometimes get Letterheads created by local shops, to ensure that their official planning applications carry more weight.
A consultation process to get the views of residents has already been carried out. Now it is down to the council to make the final decision on whether the project can move forward.
