Lost doll appeal to Falkirk residents

A lost toy doll that was recently found by a local resident has become a focal point for the popular social network, Facebook.

Arlene Forsythe, who lives in Shieldhill, spotted a child's toy doll at a bus stop in the town and assumed the child would be back to collect it. However, days turned into weeks and the doll was still left without its owner.

In a compassionate move, Arlene decided to try and find the owner of the doll by posting a photograph of it on the Facebook page of the Falkirk Herald, a local newspaper. The story generated a huge response. Forsythe said:

“It’s been amazing. So many people have taken to the story and are sharing it with their friends. There so many bad things going on these days, I think people just like a nice story. We all know what it’s like to have a toy as a child and keep it forever, so I think that’s what people like about the story."

Many people who have lost a special toy or even a pet are now using a range of techniques to relocate things that are missing. For example, a combined campaign would be more likely to find whatever is missing when the campaign covers both social media and poster printing.

The Falkirk Herald's Facebook page is still featuring the story and Arlene hopes to one day reunite the doll with its owner. She said:

“I just really hope the little girl who owns this doll comes forward, and I’d like to thank everyone who has shared this story.”
