Freedom of Falkirk to be awarded to charity group

The Freedom of Falkirk is set to be awarded to a charity group that is based within the town, and the ceremony will be held later in the year.

The Free Colliers is an organisation that seeks to raise money and awareness for people who used to work down coal mines, as well as communities where mining was central to their economies. It also aims to ensure that the traditions of those communities do not die out.

The Sir William Wallace Grand Lodge of Scotland Free Colliers was the first one to be set up and is now the only branch remaining. Every year it puts together the Pinkie March, which sees the colliers walk through the villages of the Braes carrying Banners and other symbols.

Local parades of this kind can benefit from the services of Falkirk shops that provide banner printing. Such outlets can ensure that those attending the parades have all the eye-catching custom Banners they need.

The ceremony bestowing the Freedom of Falkirk is scheduled to get underway in Trinity Church. From there, the colliers will march to Callendar Park in the town. This is expected to take half an hour.

After they have been awarded the freedom of the town, there will be a civic reception at the same location. The whole thing will take place on Saturday 26 April.
