Falkirk to get new Lidl supermarket
A brand new supermarket is coming to Falkirk, as it has been announced that the discount chain Lidl has been given the green light to open a new branch in the town.
The company purchased the land intended for its new store from the local council for £400,000 during 2019, with the council consenting to the sale after it discovered that the car park based there was not really being used. The site in question is on Kemper Avenue in Falkirk, and is situated adjacent to an existing Lidl store.
The existing store is set to be knocked down, with the new store on the car park site serving as a direct replacement. However, there are some conditions that have been attached to the planning permission in response to concerns from local people.
The most prominent condition is that Lidl will not be able to have its deliveries made between the hours of 10pm and 7am, as people living in flats near to the site have complained about the noise of the deliveries to the existing store. A land assessment also must be carried out at the proposed site.
Supermarket chains sometimes make use of print shops, which can provide branded promotional products to advertise their new stores.
No date for building work to start has been set yet.
