The organiser of the event is Cancer Research UK, and it will see nurses offering local people advice on ways to cut their risk of getting cancer, as well as ways to spot Signs at an early stage. Giving up smoking, reducing alcohol intake, making sure to get checked regularly and eating a healthier diet are all ways to reduce the risk. Charities sometimes use free Promotional Products to help spread awareness.
The venue for the roadshow will be the Howgate retail centre in Falkirk, and measures have been agreed to ensure hygiene and social distancing are observed.
Speaking to the Falkirk Herald, the Scottish senior cancer awareness nurse for Cancer Research UK, Christine Campbell, said:
“Experts estimate around four in ten cases of cancer could be prevented each year in the UK. It is also vital that people continue to seek help for symptoms that could be a sign of cancer.”
More than 32,000 Scots are diagnosed with cancer every year, but an early diagnosis provides a much better chance of successful treatment.
The roadshow hits Falkirk on 26th August and will return in September, October, November and December.
