Plans have been announced to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on improving the road surfaces throughout Falkirk ahead of a cycling event, if approval is granted.
The UCI Cycling Championships will see more than 8000 top level cyclists from over 150 different nations travel through Falkirk later this year as part of the competition route. Now, Falkirk Council is keen to improve the quality of the road surfaces at a cost of £300,000, with a view to ensuring that the event provides the best possible publicity for the town, although permission must first be granted for the Plans.
Over a million people are expected to watch the race and the council believes that it represents a chance to put Falkirk on the international map. The town will make up 52km of the total 277km race and there is a desire to make sure that the surfaces are in peak condition for the competitors.
High-quality poster printing provided by shops in Falkirk can assist in promoting an event of this kind within the town itself and help to maximise the number of local people who turn out to watch it.
The proposed repairs include sealing cracks, as well as the patching and resurfacing of the carriageways. The council also Plans to clean Signs, remove vegetation, sweep and clean the roads.
The event will take place on Sunday, August 6.Get a Free Quote for Signs Get a Free Quote for Plans
