Falkirk comedy festival raises a few laughs

The annual comedy festival in Falkirk has tickled audiences in the region for another successful year.

As the Edinburgh Festival launches, Falkirk has proved that the Fringe is not the only place in Scotland to watch great comedy by running its Funny in Falkirk comedy festival for another year.

Alastair Mitchell from Falkirk Delivers, an organisation responsible for various community initiatives, said:

“Once again Funny in Falkirk has been the talk of the town. I’m thrilled that it’s been another great success. It promotes the area, encourages people to visit and provides a welcome boost to the local nightime economy."

Events like Funny in Falkirk bring a much-needed boost to the local businesses of the town. Big names in comedy such as Al Murray and Mark Watson appeared at the festival, attracting a number of visitors to the area. By promoting the festival through a variety of media, from online activity to printed communications created using poster and flyer printing, Falkirk attracted a number of punters and this made the festival a success.

Funny in Falkirk first ran in 2010 and has since gone from strength to strength. It is organised by the Scottish Comedy Agency. Gemma Maramis spoke on behalf of the agency. She said:

"We are delighted by this year’s fantastically successful Funny in Falkirk. The people of Falkirk and the surrounding district really took the festival to heart and showed their support and love for live and cinema comedy."

Plans for next year's Funny in Falkirk are already underway.
