Charity postcard exhibition held in Edinburgh

An annual charity postcard exhibition was held recently in aid of the Edinburgh Sick Kids foundation, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the charity with Postcards on display created by local artists.

The postcard exhibition is designed to raise money for Edinburgh Sick Kids, a charity that supports the work of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children as well as supporting other children’s healthcare facilities throughout Eastern Scotland. Several well-known artists have donated their designs to be printed onto Postcards as part of the exhibition, including Quentin Blake and Dame Elizabeth Blackadder. The exhibition draws in visitors from across East Scotland and combines fundraising with postcard printing.

Falkirk football club is one of the establishments that also runs an annual event to raise money for Edinburgh Sick Kids foundation. The club holds a yearly football trophy match in memory of teenager Craig Gowan, who died in an accident at the club six years ago. The Chief Executive of Edinburgh Sick Kids foundation, Maureen Harrison, spoke about this event, saying:

“For the last six years SKFF has had fantastic support from The Craig Gowans Memorial Fund. Recently we worked with John and his family to provide a state-of-the-art minibus to NHS Lothian’s Sunndach House – a respite centre for children with complex disabilities.”

More information on the recent postcard exhibition, the Craig McGowan memorial trophy football game, and other fundraising events for the charity can be found on the official website of the Edinburgh Sick Kids foundation.
