Chariots of Fire is released again
One of the most celebrated British films of all time, Chariots of Fire, has been re-released, which has given the extras from the original film a chance to relive their big moment.
In a year of sporting celebration for Great Britain, Chariots of Fire, the iconic film about running to victory has been given a new lease of life with a 2012 re-release. The re-release gave the Scotsmen who starred in the original memorable opening credits the opportunity to reminisce about their moment of fame.
The original opening scenes were shot close to Falkirk, on a beach near St Andrews. Ian Henderson was one of the film's extras. He spoke about his plan to feature in the film's posters, saying:
The posters for the original Chariots of Fire are just as iconic as the opening scene and the memorable soundtrack. Posters are key to the promotional process and a striking design can often go down in history when combined with professional poster printing.
Derek Easton was one of the runners in the original film. Easton now runs a sawmill plant in Falkirk but he remembers shooting the scene as if it was yesterday. Easton recently spoke to a local newspaper about it. He said:
