Old municipal offices within Coatbridge couldbe replaced by 49 local authority houses as part of a £1m contract. The decision has been made to appoint a design team, and this includes the lead consultancy Collective Architecture. Brochure printing is useful in the property sector, particularly when accommodation is to be made available for rent.
The town centre of Airdrie could benefit from a similar development to the Coatbridge scheme, potentially creating 20 council homes in the town. These would occupy a space from which a department store used to trade.
The head of regeneration and planning, Pamela Humphries, told the Daily Record:
“In addition to providing more new, affordable, modern homes, we aim to realise our vision of regenerating our town centres and repositioning these as mixed-use spaces, promoting town-centre living with access to services in the heart of our communities.”
Council officials have revealed what the design team for the Coatbridge project is looking to deliver. The hope is that the detailed plan will produce a cost-effective housing solution. The work is also intended to create some office space.
It is clear that the job of the Coatbridge team will not be completed until the construction phase has been finished. Only then will the handover of the property be possible.
