Local people from Coatbridge and Airdrie recently voiced their support for a new Asda supermarket that is potentially going to be built in the area. Action for Asda is the group behind the messages of support.
The Action for Asda group recently met at the Airdrie United football ground and invited local council lots and residents to come along to see why the support the Plans to build the superstore.
Asda plans to help improve road safety in the area as well as creating new jobs. The spokesperson for the group, Sharon Craig, said:
“The biggest aspect of the application for us is the road safety issue; if that upgrading work on Carlisle Road and the junctions is done we’ll be happy.
“Creating 300 jobs is a big thing for Airdrie and the local economy and it affects everybody, not just the neighbouring residents and communities."
Supermarkets like Asda also often generate additional work and boosts to the local economy, seeking out local services such as flyer, poster and pos printing.
Coatbridge and Airdrie residents can expect a decision on whether local authorities approve the plans for the new supermarket over the coming weeks.
