This new play has been created by local musician Harry Barry and is a story that centres on Coatbridge and the people living here. The play will be called ‘The Hauf and Half’ and will celebrate the unique dialect and accent of Coatbridge. Barry has experience of writing songs and radio jingles and now he hopes to turn his talent to musical theatre.
Barry spoke about the play, saying:
“The play has been a labour of love. It is deep rooted in Coatbridge and is an affectionate look at life here. Local people have a distinctive way of speaking and a wonderful turn of phrase. As the show is about Coatbridge and the world premiere will be in Coatbridge, it makes sense that it is performed by local people. In fact, it’s crucial to its success.”
The play is set to be an extremely collaborative affair, with Barry hoping that people from across the Coatbridge region will step forward to get involved and help out with everything from acting to lighting to promotion. Local Print companies in Coatbridge may also get involved with the promotion of the play when it takes to the stage, using poster printing.
Coatbridge residents who would like to get involved with the play can do so by emailing Harry Barry himself.Get a Free Quote for Print
