A Coatbridge student has been nominated to win an award at the National Film Awards.
Scottish actor Jason Harvey has a chance of securing Best Supporting Actor at the awards, which are taking place on March 27th. Harvey was educated at New Lanarkshire College in Coatbridge and his career in acting has lasted for about two decades thus far.
Harvey was taken aback by the nomination he obtained for starring in an independent film called ‘Retreat’. He is extremely happy to be attending the prestigious ceremony. Banner printing services are often called upon to decorate venues for events like this.
Harvey explained his surprise to the Daily Record:
“I found out from a friend. She sent me a message which said ‘congratulations’. I said ‘congratulations for what?’ I thought it was a wind-up because I messaged the film’s director and he didn’t even know about it.”
Retreat was made three years back. Harvey, who has worked a lot as a joiner while acting, had no expectation that being involved in the film would enable him to rub shoulders with celebrities in the industry.
Down the years, Harvey has gained useful acting experience. As well as starring in an episode of Taggart, he has featured in Neds and The Right Bus, a romantic film set in Oban. His career has also seen him take on voiceover work.
