Laura-Anne MacLean went to the Scottish Space School (SSS) with three NASA astronauts. The SSS initiative was hosted at the University of Strathclyde. When students from a local school achieve something special, the management of the school can use marketing services in Coatbridge to inform the local community of these achievements.
Michael McKenna, the headteacher at St Andrew’s High, told the Daily Record:
“Laura-Anne is highly regarded among her peers; she is reliable, trustworthy and a right good pal! This is great for her, her family and also for the school that we have such a distinguished pupil doing these things.”
McKenna has paid further tribute to the all-round qualities of MacLean. He has faith that the experiences which she is accumulating will put her in a great position when her ordinary schooling is completed.
This summer, Maclean is off to the University of Cambridge. At Homerton College, she will have the opportunity to study science. The seminars, workshops and lectures shall give her a taste of university life.
In addition, Maclean has agreed to do an internship in London. The work with the engineering business CH2M will see her receive assistance from a mentor. Furthermore, she will obtain help that should enable her to prosper when it comes to her applications for university.
