Coatbridge community hub under way

Work has now begun on a new community hub uniting two schools in Coatbridge.

Following a recent ‘turf cutting’ ceremony, work has now started on a project in Coatbridge. The initiative is designed create a community hub that brings together two local primary schools, Sikeside and Carbroe.

The ceremony saw pupils from each primary school participate, joining local councillors, contractors and the education convener at the site formerly occupied by the Calder Community centre. Schools, colleges, and other educational institutions holding ceremonies and events often turn to professional printing services to create certificates to mark the occasion.

The new building project is to be conducted by Morgan Sindall and Hub South West, project partners of North Lanarkshire Council. Once completed, the initiative will increase the capacity of the schools providing 50 childcare and early learning places, and room for 534 pupils.

Expertly designed, the two-floor structure will offer an abundance of natural light to the flexible and engaging learning spaces inside.

Frank McNally, Councillor for education commented:

“This new state-of-the-art hub will provide a fantastic learning environment for pupils and teaching staff and will provide excellent facilities for the wider community to enjoy.”

Additionally, Plans also include an all-weather playing surface for 11-a-side games and outdoor teaching facilities that will be extensively landscaped. The project is due for completion by 2023.
