Film producer Mark Millar backed taking a Comic Con home to St Bartholomew’s Primary School in Coatbridge. The money raised at the colourful occasion will address some of the needs of the local community. Poster printing can be used to create atmosphere at events of all types. Millar said:
“Growing up, this was the kind of thing we would only ever see on TV; but Scottish people love this stuff just as much as Americans and having it all in my old primary school felt incredibly poignant.”
He explained that the children really enjoyed the experience. However, he suggested that the big day was a genuine treat for adults as well.
The event was graced by the presence of special guests. The stars of Burnistoun and Still Game showed up. An inflatable Spider-Man towered over the proceedings, while the Ghostbusters also put in an appearance. A special talk, which explored the horror genre, was delivered by Still Game’s Sanjeev Kohli.
A parade was held and the winner was given a prize of £100. A local business, Residence Estate Agents, donated the money concerned.
Millar does not intend to bring his fundraising activities to a close. He is working with local people to continue the good work. Another venture has been scheduled to take place in November.
