Building firm opens branch in Coatbridge

A construction business has opened a branch within Coatbridge recently.

M Markovitz Limited has moved into a Coatbridge industrial estate and created a dozen jobs on opening. The Derbyshire-headquartered company is looking to expand significantly north of the border. Letterheads are useful for many enterprises, especially when they are looking to grow.

The idea is that the company will sell insulation and drylining supplies to other building outfits in central Scotland. The M8 Interlink Industrial Estate is viewed as an appropriate location by the management of M Markovitz Limited. The chief executive of the business, David Hopkins, told the Daily Record:

“We were delighted to receive support from North Lanarkshire Council, enabling us to establish our first foothold in Scotland.”

Yvonne Weir is an enterprise manager for the local authority. Welcoming the corporate decision, she pointed out that North Lanarkshire has effective transport infrastructure and skilled workers.

Practical help from North Lanarkshire Council is planned. This could include support services from Business Gateway Lanarkshire and the local employability service. Further assistance from an innovation centre in Hamilton is also a real possibility.

It seems that the council would like other firms to follow the lead of M Markovitz Limited. Organisations that want to invest in the area may contact the council’s enterprise team for relevant information.
