Watford school plans extra building

A school in Watford is hoping to add a brand new building to its campus that would be for teaching use, and has submitted proposals for it to the local council.

Kingsway Junior School wants to construct this building on a site behind the main one. The Plans that it has submitted are for a modular structure that would be situated on a grassy area to the back of the school. The application states that the chosen site is currently in a poor state of repair.

If permission for the project is granted by Watford Borough Council, it would be used as an additional classroom. The school teaches a total of 238 pupils, who are aged between seven and 11. This has left it short on classroom space.

According to the planning application, the new classroom would be available to children at lunchtimes. It would also be utilised for small-scale projects aimed at children with special educational needs (SEN).

Schools that are based within the Watford area sometimes make use of other local services. For example, Watford Stationery printers can provide them with the printed teaching materials that they need.

The application that has been submitted for this building indicates that staff and pupil numbers will not be going up, even if the classroom is built. That means there will be no increase in traffic levels as a result.
