Watford will be getting a brand new supermarket before too long, with work to fit out the building for the grand opening already being underway.
This supermarket will be a branch of the chain called La Mart, which is an Asian company. At the heart of its brand is the promise of an ‘authentic’ experience for shoppers. The building chosen for it is not far from the pond at The Parade and was formerly home to SRS Camera Shop. That company had been a fixture in Watford for more than four decades, but moved to Chesham during the autumn.
La Mart submitted an application to Watford Borough Council for the right to sell alcohol and play music within the supermarket during certain times of the day. This has since been granted.
When new shopping outlets first open in Watford, they need to be promoted to local people. The town is home to shops that can create themed Promotional Products to give away.
La Mart is a chain launched back in 2022. Since then, it has opened UK stores in Kensington and Cardiff. This will make the Watford supermarket its third outlet in the country.
It will also follow on from the recent launch of a Chinese supermarket in the town. The actual opening date is still to be revealed.
