Return mooted for Watford ice skating rink

The Mayor of Watford has proposed bringing back a rink for ice skating to the town, after several years when it has been absent.

An outdoor ice skating rink had been an annual part of life in Watford for years as the focal point of The Big Skate. This popular event was put on hold during the Covid-19 pandemic but was not revived when life returned to normal. Now, Peter Taylor, the current mayor, has pledged to do so if he wins another term in office.

When the rink was put up in Watford it was located in the centre of town. It was typically set up each year towards the end of November and remained in place until the middle of January. If it is brought back, the same schedule is likely to be followed.

Poster printing by Watford shops can be a good way to advertise local entertainment amenities. Promotional Posters can feature attractive designs and information about when the amenities are open.

Taylor announced his idea of restoring the rink in his manifesto. According to the Watford Observer, this says:
“We will have a winter ice rink in the town centre, to support local business and give residents and visitors an attraction to enjoy throughout the Christmas period.”

The mayoral elections take place in early May, so residents will know then if the rink is coming back.
