What's Happening in London - Aldgate, England…

Contractor chosen for tower in City of London

Work on the construction of a new tower block at a site in the City of London will now be able to get underway, with the confirmation that a contractor has been chosen for the project.

Mace is the company that has been selected to build the 85 Gracechurch Street tower, close to Aldgate. The firm was chosen by the developer behind the project, Hertshten Properties, and has now committed to a Pre-Construction Services Agreement. The work will involve the construction of a tower that is 30 storeys and will contain a mix of events and office spaces.

The location is within the City of London, not far from Leadenhall Market. When the tower has been completed, it will serve as a replacement for the office block currently standing there. Woods Bagot has designed the new tower.

When companies first move into office spaces in the City of London, they find that the area has lots of useful services. These include shops that can create printed business cards.

Speaking to Construction Enquirer, Ged Simmonds from Mace said:
“Our focus now is on working closely with Hertshten Properties and the wider project team to deliver a building that responds to its historic context while meeting the needs of a modern, evolving city and its future occupiers.”

The expected completion date for the tower block is sometime in 2030.
