The block in question is 35 New Broad Street, just under a mile away from Aldgate. It was constructed during the 20th century and is directly across from Liverpool Street Station. The funding for the project is coming from Aviva Investors, while the extension has been designed by Make Architects.
What the plans show is an extension consisting of 10 storeys and possibly more. There would also be a plant added to the structure.
Make Architects revealed a number of designs in the summer during the public consultation process. They indicate that the extension would be partly cantilevered over the current structure.

According to Architects Journal, a statement from Make Architects says:
“The proposed material palette of reconstituted stone, textured metal panels in a terracotta finish and integrated planting draws on the character of the surrounding area while providing a contemporary finish.”
Other additions would include exterior terraces towards the top of the block and in the middle.
