The City of London Corporation is planning to renovate a listed tower block in the area, and it has put the contract out to tender.
It wants to renovate Crescent House, which is one of the residential tower blocks on the Golden Lane Estate. All of those buildings hold Grade II listed status, so any refurbishment work must be done with real care. The City of London Corporation expects the job to cost around £35 million and has now started a competitive tender process to find the right contractor.
A considerable amount of work needs to be carried out on the tower. The facade and roof both need repairs, while electrical and mechanical fittings and windows all have to be replaced. The local authority also wants to improve the spaces for communal use and enhance fire safety measures.
When repairs are being carried out on a building in the area, the City of London Corporation usually keeps residents informed. Local Stationery printers can ensure that they are able to send out letters.
In the case of this particular building, the plan is for residents to stay there while the work is completed. This means the project will need to be approved by the Building Safety Regulator.
The intention is for the job to be a three-phase process and a contractor should be chosen for it by February 2027.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
