A tennis court in Edgware is one of a number located across the borough that are set to be given serious upgrades, as part of a project that the local council is partnering on.
Barnet Council has teamed up with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) on the scheme, which will see revamps carried out on more than 20 park tennis courts throughout the borough. The aim is to ensure each of them has facilities of the best possible standard for residents to use. The existing court in Edgware will receive particularly significant upgrades, as it is below par at the moment.
This project will cost more than £1.2 million to complete. The financial contribution from Barnet Council adds up to £545,101, with the remaining £688,451 being provided by the LTA and the Government.
Furthermore, alongside the improvements to the facilities at the courts, the LTA and the council are also working on the provision of free classes in tennis that will be targeted at all ages and experience levels.

Many of the courts that are to be renovated are currently in unusable conditions. The expected completion date for the project is September of this year.
