This work will be carried out in Burnt Oak Station, which is just over a mile away from Edgware. The planning approval needed for it to go ahead has been secured, so now it is just a matter of finalising designs. Among the improvements that will be made to the station are the addition of a footbridge and a brand-new lift. The station is on the Northern Line and this project is part of a wider one to enhance accessibility across that network.
A spokesperson for Transport for London said that the station will mostly stay open while the work is being done. However, there will be a short-term two-week closure during the autumn, when the workers are making the opening that will house the lift.

According to the Barnet Post, the local councillors Kamal Gurung, Charlotte Daus, and Sara Conway said:
“No one should be barred from our transport system due to disability, and these changes will make the station far more accessible.”
The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2027 or the start of 2028.
