These Plans are called the Hendon Hub Redevelopment and would involve a significant expansion of Middlesex University, as well as Hendon Public Library being moved from its existing base so that a school for business students can be set up there. This building holds Grade II listed status, but the resources and policy committee for Barnet Council has given the project preliminary approval.
A major factor in this decision is likely to be the fact that the completed scheme would supply accommodation for close to 800 students who are studying in the area.
It would also lead to the construction of a brand new building to house the library, office spaces and additional facilities for the local community. Brochure printing is sometimes used to show off such new amenities.
According to Times Series, the leader of the council, Dan Thomas, said at the meeting that there were no Plans to increase the number of students, adding:
“This is about improving the facilities that they offer to students and facilities for the community as well. There will be a much-needed financial benefit for the council and council taxpayers.”
