Local entrepreneur moves from chocolates to yogurts

James Averdieck has invested in a yogurt business after disposing of his interest in Gü, a venture he launched that sold chocolate pudding.

Averdieck has admitted that he was unsure what to do following the sale of Gü for nearly £30 million. He eventually contrived to make up his mind, and he could employ a Print company in Edgware to promote his current business, which is called The Coconut Collaborative.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Averdieck explained:

“Gü was well known but people had it as a rare treat, whereas these products are going to be purchased far more regularly. We have a much smaller number of much more loyal customers.”

The Coconut Collaborative began as an enterprise called Bessant & Drury, a firm that made yogurt without dairy products. Averdieck invested in the business and altered its branding.

The Coconut Collaborative has been working by selling its products through major retailers. The goods have already been sold by Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Ocado and Waitrose.

The products are manufactured within Yorkshire, but Averdieck has his sights set on exploiting demand overseas. He has predicted the turnover of his organisation will be about £2 million this year.

Averdieck has already managed to get French retailers like Carrefour interested in the produce. He has also got concrete Plans to access the Australian market.
