Hospice housing plan near Edgware gets nod

Plans for the construction of a new house not far from Edgware that were submitted by a local hospice have been given the nod by the council.

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice is in High Barnet, just outside Edgware. The hospice applied to the council for permission to build a home at a site on Manor Road. The site in question is owned by the hospice and is currently occupied by a garage. The plan is to knock that down and build a house with two storeys and three bedrooms in place of it.

A meeting of planning officers for the council that was held earlier in the month led to a decision to give the green light to the project. The hospice gave a guarantee that the proposed new building would not be utilised for care services, but would be for standard residential use.

When organisations are trying to gain approval for projects of this kind, local outlets that provide graphic design can help by creating images of what they will look like.

This was the second application that the hospice had submitted. Following the rejection of the first one, it reduced the proposed size of the house. Its agent Simon Wallace said that the new design would blend well with the surrounding area.

At the time of writing, a date for work to start had not been announced.
