Darren Saich, who works for the Broadwalk Centre as its finance and office administrator, sacrificed the hair on his head and face last month.
It is all part of an initiative called ‘brave the shave’ that Macmillan Cancer Support launched in Edgware’s Station Road retail centre, and local hairdresser Shorn O’Connor helped Saich by lopping off his locks.
He is hoping to raise £100 for the charity through his bold bald bid and he told a reporter from Times Series that:
“I always try and do something every year to help raise money for charity but this year I wanted to ‘brave the shave’ due to its connection with the shopping centre’s cancer prevention campaign.”
He went on to add that the services that Macmillan Cancer Support provides make them a remarkable charity, and that knowing the loss of his locks was assisting in generating vitally important cash for them was helping him deal with how odd his shaved head felt.
Local charity fundraising efforts of this type frequently call on the help of places that provide flyer printing in Edgware, when it comes to getting the word out about them.
