Lee has been a fixture on the comedy scene in the UK since the 1990s, having originally risen to national prominence as part of a double act with fellow comedian Richard Herring. The duo went on to star in their own BBC sketch show called Fist of Fun, before eventually going their separate ways.
Lee has since written a number of successful stage comedy shows and had his own television series – Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle. He is currently touring a show called ‘Content Provider’ and will be bringing it to Basingstoke next month.
This represents the first full-length stage comedy show he has produced in several years and, speaking to the Basingstoke Observer, he admitted that he was pleased to be making a return visit to the Anvil, adding:
“I suppose the best thing about performing in front of an audience is that they make a succession of different sounds which give you some indication of the relevant perceived merits of different sections of the show on that particular night.”
The show will take place on 9th June and concerts of this kind are often advertised by means of flyer printing.
