Basingstoke to host festival of blues music

Music lovers in Basingstoke will be singing the blues later this year, as a festival devoted to that genre comes to town.

This festival is called REXFEST, in tribute to Rex Everett, who co-founded Basingstoke Blues Club and died two years ago. The inaugural festival took place the same year and it has gone from strength to strength. This will be the third time that REXFEST has been held and it will once again feature an impressive line-up of blues musicians.

Among those who will perform in 2026 are the Nigel Bagge Band, The Bluescasters, Voodoovalve, the Jon Amor Trio and Sugarman Sam & the Blue Bloods. In addition to all of the live music, there will also be a barbecue. The food for this is being supplied by the pub The Golden Lion.

Basingstoke Blues Club is owned by Gareth Goodwin. He told the Basingstoke Gazette:
“I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone back for REXFEST later this year. Everyone has had such a great time at the previous events, it makes all the effort involved so worth it."

This festival doubles as a fundraiser for Asthma + Lung UK. It will take place at Central Studio on 19 September.
