This popular event is ideal for the entire family and the 2026 festival will be the most impressive yet. Over 800 classic cars and other vehicles will be exhibited, but that is just the start of the entertainment. There will be charity and trade stalls, autojumble, live music performed by bands from the area and activities for children.
Basingstoke and Deane Rotary Club puts the festival together and it doubles as a charity fundraiser. This organisation has put out an appeal to local people to lend a hand on the day. A lot of voluntary workers are needed to make sure that everything goes off smoothly.
A spokesperson for the organising committee told the Basingstoke Gazette:
“We need in excess of 100 volunteers to help run the Festival of Transport; could you be one of those volunteers helping to raise money for Hampshire Hospitals Charity?”
Promotional Pens created by shops in Basingstoke are sometimes made available at local events. This is because they are a great way of spreading the word.
One of the classic cars being shown this year is a Saffron Yellow Stag from the 1970s. This is owned by Basingstoke resident Simon Cushing.
The festival takes place on 10th May.
