Skating rink set to open again in July

The owners of the ice skating rink in Basingstoke, which has been closed since the coronavirus pandemic hit, have stated that they are setting a ‘provisional date’ of early July for it to open again.

A spokesperson for Planet Ice said that the company was eager to get the rink open to the public again as quickly as safety allowed and that it was now able to go public with its reopening Plans as lockdown restrictions start to be eased. However, the spokesperson also emphasised that ensuring the safety of both staff and customers remained the biggest priority.

According to the Basingstoke Gazette, this spokesperson went on to say that the company would be implementing fresh procedures for anyone wanting to use the ice rink after it reopens to help make sure that this does not lead to the spreading of Covid-19.

“In terms of public skating we are expecting to operate a reduced schedule based on a maximum capacity of 3m2 per person. These sessions will be in line with government guidelines which are expected to be issued prior to July 4.”

The planned reopening date for the rink is July 6th.
