NewRiver Retail is the company that has been chosen by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to oversee this scheme, which is set to cost £200 million to complete. It will see the existing facility transformed into a shopping centre offering luxury stores and will also see the aquadrome undergo an upgrade.
The council has not yet finalised this deal, but things have reached a stage where it appears to be just a matter of time before it is concluded and work on the project can get underway.
Council member Robert Tate provided a progress report during a council meeting that was held last month and stated that only a couple of issues still needed to be resolved. According to the Basingstoke Gazette, he went on to add that:
“One of the reasons it has taken a long time is because it is a complicated agreement and we are making sure that the longevity and the interests of the residents of Basingstoke and Deane are met.”
