This festival is set to be spread out across three successive weekends in 2024. It will have a number of themes, including science, the environment, time and history that the different events will be related to.
The money for it comes from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, and the authority also decides on the roster of activities and performers.
The line-up will feature both local shows and national ones. Among them will be Teabreak by Trigger, which looks at the historic roots of tea, and a show by Akademi called Pravaas. This connects environmental issues with dance.
Another confirmed show is The Bonkers Balloon Science Show. Created by Becky Kitter, an artist from Basingstoke, it will seek to make science more accessible to young people. Poster printing by Basingstoke shops is one of the ways in which various events for the festival can be advertised.
Kerry Morrow from the council told the Basingstoke Gazette:
“We want everyone to be able to enjoy arts and culture, so with lots of opportunities to get involved, put the dates in your diaries so you don’t miss out.”
The festival will be taking place between 21 June and 7 July.
