The intended location for the development is Ashwood Park, which is currently home to three blocks of offices. If the council gives the nod to the proposals, those blocks would be converted into a total of 133 flats, of which 102 would have one bedroom and the remaining 31 would have two bedrooms.
Brochure printing is often used by the developers behind new housing schemes so that they can showcase the intended look to potential buyers.
According to the Basingstoke Gazette, the planning documents submitted for this development state that the location has been chosen as it is within walking distance of public transport and other important amenities. The documents then go on to say that:
“The site is therefore considered to be within an accessible location and well connected by non-car modes of travel, meaning that residents would not necessarily be reliant on the use of a private vehicle for typical day-to-day journeys.”
For that reason, the project would also see a reduction in the number of parking spaces at the site from the current 300 plus to 149.
No date has yet been announced for the council’s planning committee to come to a decision about the proposals.
