Bloor Homes is the company behind the planned estate, which will consist of a total of 1,000 houses, as well as a number of other amenities. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council gave its approval to the planning application submitted by the developer last year, after revisions were made.
Amenities will include open spaces for use by the local community, facilities for sports, a community centre, day nursery and a shopping centre. All of this will be built where the course owned by Basingstoke Golf Club currently stands, on Winchester Road.
Housing developers often turn to local shops that supply full colour brochure printing so that they can showcase their latest homes.
The original Plans that were submitted by Bloor Homes two years ago were rejected by the council due to the intention to include spaces for travellers. This met with objections from residents of the area and was changed in the revised application.
According to the Basingstoke Gazette, a spokesperson said:
“This site is one of the largest developments in Basingstoke and is an important element of the Borough’s housing land supply.”
No date for work to start has been announced yet.
