The Austen Academy is set to be located at a spot that was formerly home to Chineham Primary School, on Shakespeare Road, and will provide teaching and therapy for a total of 125 youngsters with additional needs between the ages of 4 and 16. Hampshire County Council is stating that this school will support those who are not properly catered to by any of the existing schools in the Basingstoke area.
Speaking to the Basingstoke Gazette, a council spokesperson stated:
“We believe all children and young people have the capacity to learn regardless of their life situation. It is our role to unlock that learning potential.”
This spokesperson went on to say that the Austen Academy would give its pupils academic opportunities and would combine this with tailored therapy support to equip them with confidence and resilience. They concluded by adding that the school would be making use of the current National Curriculum for each of the age ranges in attendance.
Stationery printers in the nearby locale can be helpful to schools when they need new administration Forms and teaching materials.
This new school is scheduled to open its doors to young people in April of next year.
