Matthew Cleaver is the CEO of Anvil Arts, and he has stated that the two venues it operates, the Anvil and the Haymarket theatres, will be returning to normal service. Both of these venues have been open on a restricted basis for the past couple of months, providing performances for reduced and socially distanced audiences.
The success of this and the further lifting of COVID-19 restrictions has led Anvil Arts to plan for a full-scale reopening. Poster printing supplied by shops in Basingstoke can help local venues promote their upcoming shows now that they are opening up again.
Talking to the Basingstoke Gazette, Cleaver said:
“It’s been great to see audiences back in the buildings and the response from them has been absolutely fantastic. The excitement that people have come back through the doors with has been really great to see.”
Cleaver went on to add that the organisation would still be taking public safety very seriously, with some existing measures kept to ensure this, such as screens at box office and bar counters and stations for people to wash their hands at.
The venues are scheduled to reopen to the public at their full capacities in September.
