A Top of Town building in Basingstoke that used to be home to a branch of Lloyds Bank could be turned into flats and a brand new restaurant, if the buyer agrees.
The building in question is located on Market Square and housed Lloyds until two years ago, when the company opted to close the branch and open a new one on Festival Place. Three years ago, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council gave the green light to a ‘change of use’ application, which means that there is nothing to prevent it being converted into flats and a restaurant.
However, a new owner for the building still needs to be found and it will be up to whoever buys it for the £1.35m asking price to make the final decision. If it does become a restaurant, the owner can always look to printing services in Basingstoke to supply Menus and other essential items.
The buyer will have the option of acquiring a freehold for the entire property, renting out the building as a whole or looking for separate leaseholders for the basement and ground floor.
The suggested plan for the building would see the restaurant located in the basement and on the ground floor, while the two floors above are turned into a total of seven flats for local people.
