Expansion plans for community centre in Basingstoke
A community centre in Basingstoke appears set to undergo expansion, with the aim of providing improved facilities for a wildlife group and nursery in the town.
Old Down Hall is situated on Kempshott Lane, Basingstoke and the borough council is keen to increase its capacity. It has submitted expansion plans that would see a further storey added to the building. This would create a single new room of large size for multiple different uses, including the storage of equipment, toilets and a kitchenette.
The idea behind these plans is that they will make the centre more environmentally friendly while also providing a new base for the wildlife group. Local organisations like this sometimes use flyer printing from Basingstoke print shops to help spread the word and attract new members.
Another organisation that stands to benefit from the expanded centre is Shooting Stars Nursery. The council wants to enhance the amenities on offer there, as well as making the building bigger. Its proposals feature more spaces for vehicle parking, including bays for electric vehicles, and a storage area for bicycles. Both are intended to help the environment.
Old Down Hall was constructed around 20 years ago and is widely used by residents of the area. It sits alongside Old Down Park, which is a focal point for wildlife enthusiasts.
A date for a decision has not yet been announced.
