Kevin Grant and Tony Green are friends, as well as being dads to young children, and this has motivated them to take on the challenge to raise cash for St John’s Primary School. The school could use the funds raised to buy new equipment for its playground. The duo’s journey will begin at Land’s End and conclude in John O’Groats.
The journey adds up to 903.13 miles, but it is something that Tony has wanted to do for nearly 10 years, after learning that someone he worked with had completed it. The need for new play equipment was enough to get Kevin interested.
It is expected that nine days will be needed to finish the trip, with eight hours spent cycling each day, and the pair hope to make £3,500. Speaking to the Basingstoke Observer, Jenny – Tony’s wife – stated:
“It is well known as a huge mental and physical challenge and one that requires hours of training and commitment. Make no mistake, this is going to be extremely tough, but we have no doubt they have the determination and commitment to do this.”
They will set off on their adventure on 27th July. Fundraising activities can sometimes rely on poster printing for spreading the word to the local community.
